SMARTVIZ STUDIO
My story or how it all began.
My name is Sebastian Szkudlarek, and I've been involved in architectural visualization, graphic design, and architectural photography for over 25 years. From the very beginning of my career, I've combined my architectural knowledge with a passion for image and form. I created my first renders in DOS 3D Studio 4.0, then worked in Lightscape and Autodesk 3DS VIZ, and today I use the latest visualization, post-production, and photography tools daily using 3DS MAX + V-RAY. I'm constantly learning new software and participating in training courses to develop my skills and meet the growing demands of the industry. My professional experience dates back to 1993, when—in parallel with my studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Lodz University of Technology (1993–1996)—I began working at CARTALL, a company specializing in GIS and multimedia projects. Then, from 2001 to 2003, I continued working at EMAPA, focusing on 2D designs and spatial information systems. In 1998, I created my first commercial visualization as Smartviz Studio, and my collaboration with NEO MVR resulted in publications in the magazines Inteligentny Dom (1999, no. 2(5)) and Dom i Wnętrze (2002, no. 8). My work has received numerous recognition and awards:
2000 – 1st place in the 4th 3D competition in the visualization category (Office), 3d.pl portal and publication of competition entries in 3D Magazine, no. 6
2002 – 1st place in the 6th 3D competition in the animation category (Dancing House), 3d.pl and publication of post-competition works in 3D Magazine, no. 6
2004 – 1st place in the 8th 3D competition in the animation category (Cool), 3d.pl and publication of post-competition works in 3D Magazine No. 6
In parallel to my freelance work, in 2003–2004 I worked as a graphic designer for the clothing company KAN–TATUUM, which allowed me to develop my skills in applied design. In 2007, I created visualizations for the Philharmonic Hall project on Małopolska Street in Szczecin, designed by the NOW studio – the project won second prize in an architectural competition (published on ronet.pl). In 2008, my visualizations for Archikon were published in Dom i Wnętrze magazine (No. 11, November). In my work, I prioritize quality, atmosphere, and visual consistency. I collaborate with clients at every stage – from concept to final presentation. I have experience in both individual projects and large-scale projects implemented with architectural studios, developers, and publishing houses.
Since 2010, formally known as SMARTVIZ STUDIO, I have been running my own business, implementing comprehensive projects in the fields of architectural visualization, photography, and graphic design. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with many renowned companies and institutions in Poland and abroad, including ECE, STRABAG, MURATOR, BRUK, KOSTRZEWA, ZASADA BIKES, DEVELIA, and APARTMEL, as well as numerous architectural firms such as TREMEND, NOW, FBT, POPART, D.A.S. Architekturbüro, and REAL DEVELOPMENT.
I've been passionate about photography since college, and my camera is my daily companion, allowing me to create professional-quality architectural and interior photos, often documenting projects for which I previously created visualizations. My photography journey began with 35mm film and long nights spent in the studio. Today, working digitally, I create architectural images and films, combining precise workshop experience with artistic sensitivity.
In every project, I prioritize clarity, aesthetics, the highest quality, and consistency of visual communication. I combine my experience in architectural visualization with the artistic sensitivity of a photographer and the precision of a graphic designer, creating images that not only depict the space but also capture its character and atmosphere.
